This is the account of an unlikely “fan journey”, which started when I was accidentally exposed to progesterone…

Once upon a time, I had a friend named Carla who liked Abba’s “Dancing Queen”, which being a Led Zep fan I thought was silly. Carla invited me to meet her parents, which didn’t go that great, and on the way home I swiped a guard rail and almost crashed… that’s my first recollection of Abba.

Later I married a beautiful, talented woman, who eventually started taking progesterone, which I was exposed to via her pillow. I’m not sure what progesterone does to a woman, just what it did to me… I wrote someone a “thank you note”, which was highly unusual. Days later, I heard “Waterloo”, for the first time in years. It’s catchy and despite preferring harder Rock, I’d always liked the song… but this time something strange happened. As if a chemical reaction had occurred, Agnetha’s voice hit me like a ton of bricks and evoked what they call an “auto-sensory meridian response. “ I laugh about it now, and even back then it seemed funny… as in, “who would’ve thunk it!”

When this happened starting in about 2002, I started writing things down… now more than 20 years I’m revisiting those days and that journal, which is like enjoying a favorite movie after many years… it’s fresh again, so let’s get into it!
