This sparkling production continues the Rossini one-act opera series emerging from the Schwetzingen Festival.
A lively performance, a light musical touch and a fast-paced directing style bring to life the innovative elements of Rossini?s youthful work.
The cast of principals, led by Susan Patterson, Robert Gambill and Natalede Carolis , is excellent>
It was realised to perfection in the small, jewel-like Rococo Theatre of Schwetzingen Palace. The stage is small and the production transfers to the small screen perfectly.
The productions by Michael Hampe and Gianluigi Gelmetti remain benchmarks of a musical species found in this quality only rarely, if ever, on international opera stages.
