Rusty Rails is a combination of memories, anecdotal stories, and first hand accounts of the many and varied things that compete for the remainder of my memory cells as I grow older.
This is a narrative of the sights, sounds and smells of railroad life from that as a Laborer to a Brakeman and Conductor aboard freight trains from the California desert to the Cascade Mountains in Oregon.
This is also about the many unique personalities along the way that provides the most fodder for this book. Railroad life puts you in places you might never go to intentionally, yet welcomes you back warmly when you visit them again through the often dense underbrush of the emotions they evoke.
Climb aboard and meet some fun people, some crazy events, a Sasquatch or two, and come away with some memories that might very much be like your own when you've finished. Be advised though; there's some rough language ahead, but it's only used when it's most necessary to experience the elements on this journey.
