THE ART OF SHREDDING: a short treatise on action sports aesthetics (English Edition)

The Art of Shredding is the author's attempt to search fot the foundations of beauty in his beloved sports by using all the tools he has accumulated so far. The book praises the artistic nature of action sports, all while dealing with the factors that are responsible for generating feelings of pleasure in an audience (judging criteria and more). The book consists of theoretical analysis of terms such as shred, style, steeze and more followed by a variety of video examples.

Dimitrios Nikou is an amateur mountain bike rider and freeskier from Northern Greece. Throughout his career, he has competed in a variety of events, from races and freestyle competitions to short video contests. He is also a Philosophy graduate and has attended several courses on History, Philosophy, and Theory of Art. During 2017 and 2018, he represented Greece in the FIS Development Programme as a freeski rider. In the course of multiple FIS Camps, he was formally educated on action sports judging by attending judging seminars.
