Bretzke (Christian ethics, Berkeley Graduate Theological Union) provides a resource for people of east Asian descent who want to understand their heritage better or articulate it in western languages, those who travel to Asia, those whose relatives marry or work with east Asians, and those who meet east Asians in their daily lives. He includes a selection of primary sources in translation and secondary sources he finds particularly useful to nonspecialists, describes them, and places them in perspective. After a section on general works of philosophy and religion in Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism, he focuses on Chinese and Confucian understandings of religion, business and economic ethics, human rights, and women's philosophy and theology.
