In subsequent raids the enemy bombers continued to evade the English guns and aircraft with brazen ease and it became increasingly obvious that England was unable to repel this new and lethal form of attack
As the number of casualties and extent of the devastation increased, so the angry voices raised in protest grew louder….
A shaken government hastily began the task of rebuilding the air defence system, in a sweeping review of air organization and strategies which was to result in the formation of the Royal Air Force .
