Around & About Mount Hood: Exploring the Timberline Trail, Access Trails, and Day Hikes. (English Edition)

The Timberline Trail is a 41-mile trail around Mount Hood in northern Oregon, and one of the most spectacular hiking trails in the world. The trail dips in and climbs out of canyons carved by the rivers that form from the many glaciers on the mountain. This highly-detailed and comprehensive guide includes not only the Timberline Trail but also many connecting trails, trailheads, and detailed directions to reach remote trailheads. It has been created in collaboration with local expert Sonia Buist, the author of Around & About Mount Hood, 4th ed. The guide is broken into 8 sections and is friendly to all hikers, whether day-hikers or thru-hikers. Each segment is described individually for hiking in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction. The total elevation gain is around 9000 feet with the lowest point of ~3200 feet and highest of ~7300 feet. The book is richly illustrated with sketches and photographs of alpine flowers, careful maps and elevation maps for each segment. A companion book of hikes in the Mt Hood area of Oregon is TheBest Hikes & Walks On & Around Mt Hood by the same author.
