When a person thinks of laws, what usually comes to mind are visions of dusty, thick volumes of books filled with hard to read and boring laws, but, not so with 1,000+ CRAZY FUNNY LAWS. Along the way – through and the years, the human element made it’s way into the law with hilarious results.

Imagine the situation where some upper class folks attended the opera just to prove they are everyone else’s betters and what’s that? Someone has brought their diamond collared French poodle to the opera. Naturally, among the opera lovers are lawmakers and the result was:

IN THE STATE of ILLINOIS: By law, a person may not bring a French poodle to the opera.

And if those darn teenagers on skateboards are bothersome? No problem – pass a law that says:

IN THE STATE of FLORIDA: It is against the law to ride a skateboard without possessing an officially issued license.

What it really comes down to is, certain self-important people, using the power of the law, to get what they want and – never mind to commonsense or, for that matter, never mind to the U.S. Constitution.

Silly laws, funny laws, ridiculous laws have been used to impose social compliance and moral order – well, at least from the point of view of the few with the paper, pen and ink to make such CRAZY FUNNY LAWS.

Maybe, just maybe there was a lawmaker in the state of Maryland who was married to a suspicious woman. Then, maybe she had good reason to be suspicious? The result was:

IN THE STATE of MARYLAND: It is against the law for a wife to go through her husband’s pockets while he is sleeping.

If someone the local town Council is offended that their neighbor painted their house some awful color – then pass a law against that color. If a lawmaker is an over the top animal lover – then pass a law protecting – RATS! If the daughter of a lawmaker comes home crying after her honeymoon – well, then pass a law that makes it illegal for a groom to go fishing on his honeymoon.

They are, or were at one time, laws intended to push people in the “correct direction.” There are dumb U.S. Federal laws. There are dumber U.S. state laws and there are foolish and laughable local laws that will make you think the lawmakers must have been out of their minds to pass something so obviously – stupid. Of course, there are inane international laws as well.

Possibly, you’ve been in a movie theater where some idiot in the audience is laughing way too loudly at the screen? In Malibu, California the City Council “fixed” that situation, they passed law!

Imagine the situation where a mechanically inclined lawmaker is helping a friend repair a car and instead gets the scare of his life? What’s the solution? Yes, pass a law!

IN DENMARK: It is against the law to start the engine of an automobile – while someone is underneath.

So, there is a lawmaker who is just damned tired of Christmas coming and going and it’s February then March and the neighbor’s blinking Santa Claus and sleigh is still on his lawn. What to do – what to do? Ah, pass a law!

IN the STATE of MAINE: It is hereby decreed, after January 14th, a person can be fined for still having up their Christmas display and ornaments.

We live our lives the best way we can, but there’s always some pencil pushing numbskull who thinks passing a simpleminded law will make life better (for them.)

CRAZY FUNNY LAW – (Drumroll – “And the award for the funniest craziest Law goes to:) In Florida, it’s against the law for a man to dream of another man’s wife or – cow.

And Second Place award goes to:

CRAZY FUNNY LAW – In Alaska, it is against the law to break the law. (Well, that about sums it up.)
