When the alarm went off, I was already awake, although I was still in bed, prolonging the time to get up for another work shift. Not that I was complaining, but... I felt tired.

With a sigh, I threw my legs off the messy bed, stretching as I stretched my arms up. I got to my feet, and dodged all the mess that was my house. My day off was in two days, when I could finally clean up.

I had lived in El Paso, Texas, for five years, ever since I moved out of my parents' home in Austin to live with my then-boyfriend. Our relationship ended two years ago, so I had to fend for myself.
