Ein vierzehnjähriges Mädchen wird tot in der Mülltonne eines Berliner Gourmet-Restaurants aufgefunden. Die Polizei nimmt den Gastronom unter dringendem Mordverdacht fest. Die Frau des Verdächtigen heuert den Privatdetektiv Karl Boltmann an. Für den Detektiv beginnt ein kniffliger Job, der ihn u.a. in das Rotlichtmilieu der deutschen Hauptstadt führt. Boltmanns Privatleben fährt dabei Achterbahn. Doch weder eine qualvolle Scheidung noch lieblose Affairen können den Erfolg seiner Arbeit verhindern. Am Ende findet Boltmann den Täter ... und sich selbst wieder. Ein klassischer Hardboiled-Krimi.
