The author also gives a brutally honest account of the effects of childhood sexual abuse had on his adult life. Having been abused by his mother and his brothers over a twelve year period his mind had shut out the memories of his suffering. When the memories came flooding back as a forty year old man the effects were devastating.

This book is compelling reading. It is hard to imagine what his experiences have done to him over the forty five years of his life. It nearly cost him his life on several occasions when he attempted suicide. But despite all this it is clear to see that he has not allowed it to destroy him.
