Known for his flamboyant and passionate style of conducting, Zubin Mehta has performed with orchestras all over the world. Born in Bombay in 1936, he was the son of the founder of the Bombay Symphony Orchestra. He made history as being the first conductor to be the music director of two North American orchestras at the same time, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Montreal Symphony. In 1978, he became the director of the New York Philharmonic.
